Positive start to the new year

Having over indulged during the Christmas period, I certainly need to look at how I can lose a few pounds and feel positive in this dull, cold weather. Knowing that others may feel the same has encouraged me to do this blog.

Although I love exercise, and have always been very active when it comes to sports (cycling, swimming, yoga, fitness gym, etc); I understand that not everyone does; and that it should be partnered with a balanced diet.

In the UK the NHS website (www.nhs.uk) is a great resource to support with things like this.

Sometimes peoples own perceptions and understanding can also become quite challenging.

Therefore seeking support from professionals can be the best thing you could do (as I have over the years). Here are some specialists you may like to consider:

  • Nutritionist/Dietician

  • Personal training

  • Yoga teacher

  • Swimming instructor

  • Life coach

  • Dance class/teacher

  • Football in the community (football groups/teams)

  • Kickboxing coach/teacher

Another thing to think about is that a lot of research states that hobbies and active participation are good for the mind. This could be gardening, walking, community groups and volunteering to help or support others. Keeping the mind active is just as important as keeping your body active.
