Affects of the 'Pandemic' #5

A big positive, according to the Office of National Statistics, is the monthly indicators show that services are the main contributor to GDP (Gross Domestic Product). Food and Beverage Service Activities being the main contributor at 10.1%.

Another interesting point is that house prices have increased in value by 13.2% in the year to June 2021.

Back in blog #3 I mentioned 1 million job vacancies advertised at one time, and in order to bring some reality to this I attended a careers fair in Nottingham. Although there were 27 companies exhibiting, when I spoke with a manager at the conference centre, they told me that they are also recruiting. Making it 28 employers in total, which I think is quite astounding when we are coming out of a pandemic. As always the Armed Forces attended, but there were a lot of companies that were quite new to me. But what made a lot of them even better is that they offer training too, so in a lot of cases don't ask for much more than having an interest and passion for the work involved. Some of the companies would even train or educate to management/degree level. Nevertheless, the variety of careers available was quite compelling. They ranged from the health service, children's services (care), construction, casinos (leisure), adult care homes, recruitment, clerical/office, digital, sales, finance, hospitality and science. Consequently, I can't go into each company, but would be happy to share details with anybody that contacts me. However, I do just want to open up a couple from the list below:
