Affects of the 'Pandemic' #1

I know that we've all been affected by the 'Pandemic' in different ways, and some in the worst imaginable ways. But I wanted to do a series of blogs that are careers related and show the expertise we have in our profession.

Starting with education, young people, children and adults have all had to adapt to new ways of learning, and in some cases continued to have to meet deadlines when suffering with COVID 19. Another big change was that GCSE and A - level exams were replaced with continued assessments.

It has also forced a change to the results days. A - level results are now being given out on 10th August and GCSE results on 12th August. Where ordinarily they are given out on the second and third Thursday in August (A - levels 12th and GCSE 19th this year in accordance with normal procedures).

Another impact that the 'Pandemic' has had is on leaner's mental health. Which in turn has created more anxiety and uncertainty about what the future holds. The battles some have had in the new way of living, learning and working has had a dramatic impact on their ability to learn, concentrate and produce work to their full capabilities.

In addition to the learners, staff members in education have also had their struggles, and in some cases chosen another career/profession due to their experiences during this time. Changes happening whichever way we look at it.

Currently, the next academic year is planned to run as normal, but as the last 18 months have shown, it could all change at any time.
